Christian Rome and Vatican City

Explore the major churches: Saint John Lateran and the Holy Stairs (Scala Santa, brought to Rome from Jerusalem in 326 AD by Constantine’s mother Helena); Mary Major (Santa Maria Maggiore); Saint Paul’s Outside the Walls; and others. Nero’s grounds, Forum of Augustus, Imperial Forum, Mammertine Prison, Arch of Titus, Capitoline Hill Museums. Baths of Diocletian (Santa Maria degli Angeli e Martiri), Pantheon. Castel Sant’ Angelo where a bloody defense of the Pope was put on against invaders. Attend a Papal audience (subject to availability).

Excursion to Assisi and Siena. Assisi is central to Saints Francis and Claire. View the cross where Francis heard the voice of God. In Siena see the beautiful Duomo and visit the house of Saint Catherine. Take in the Palazzo Publico in the Piazza del Campo where the famous Palio is presented twice a year as a grand spectacle. Then complete your tour of the Eternal City of Rome with possible split group tours of the necropolis, and the site of Peter’s remains and memorial, under St. Peter’s (Scavi Tour), given limited capacity at the site and subject to availability. 8-days.

Marvel at the must see major sights in Rome. Excursion from Rome to Ovieto and Assisi in the region of Umbria. High speed train from Rome to Florence. Excursion around Tuscany from Florence to Siena, Pisa, and San Gimignano. Possible added trips to Fiesole’s Roman ruins and/or Prato, which has the Virgin Mary’s belt and more. An art and history buff’s paradise. Shop for leather, silk scarves and neckties, shoes, handbags, and gold in Florence. 10-days.

Hands on Italian Cooking Experience

Florence hands on cooking classes. Hands on cooking classes in San Marino. Excursion to Ravenna and Rimini. Enjoy the cuisine, art, history, and culture between classes. Feast on your own creations. Swim the Adriatic Riviera beach at Rimini (in season). 8-days.

Northern and Central Italy

Take in Milan, its gothic Duomo, da Vinci’s Last Supper and other artworks, the Sforza castle, high fashion, Lake Como, the Dolomites, Padua, Venice, Verona, La Spezia, and Cinque Terre. 11-days.
